Chuck Cross, Poway City Council Candidate, An Old Friend

Meet Chuck Cross:

I am a 26-year resident of Poway. I have declared my candidacy in the election for Poway City Council.

I Am An Old Friend To Poway

My wife, Mary, and I have been involved in Poway as volunteers for many years.

I currently serve as Chairman of the Board for the Poway-Midland Railroad Volunteers. We work with the Old Poway Park Action Committee to preserve and present Poway’s History to school groups. The Volunteers also present “Operation Lifesaver”, a national program that teaches safety around railroads to schools and any other interested parties. My family and I have been involved with this group for seventeen years.

I served eight years on Poway’s Parks and Recreation Committee. As a member of the Sports Subcommittee, I helped the Poway City Council understand the needs of youth sports in our community. Also, I was a board member of the Poway Youth Soccer League, representing them in the Poway Sports Association.

Currently, I was the Second Vice Commander of American Legion Post 479 in Poway. I was honored to be elected to this post by our outstanding local veterans.I recently resigned this office as American Legion policy does not allow political candidates to be officers in the organization.   I am still  working with the City, the VFW, the Fleet Reserve and the Elk’s Lodge to establish the new Veteran’s Park on Midland Road across from the Train Station.

My wife, Mary, has served on the Citizen’s Budget Review Committee nine times in the 26 years we have lived here. As a result, I have developed a high degree of familiarity with the budget process.

I have attended most city council meetings. This attendance, and my experiences as a volunteer, along with my understanding of the core population of Poway make me the best candidate for City Council. Mary and I own and operate our businesses here. We raised our children here. We chose Poway because it is a very special place, and we intend to be here a long time.

I understand budget issues..

I understand land-use issues.

I can hit the ground running to represent the people of Poway

Thank you,
Chuck Cross
